Founded in 2014, it focuses on ambitious, imaginative and innovative writing, both in translation and in the English language. International Priorities

Publishing Mathias Enard's Compass simultaneously with New Direction (US).

Key Strengths

Publishing many books in translation, we have strong international connections, notably with publishing houses and translators in France, Spain, Germany, US and Canada. We combine a desire to bring exciting international writing to the fore with an emphasis on seeking out the best of new writing. To that effect, we run the Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize, an annual competition for unpublished writers.

Seeking partnerships with

Organisations and individuals with a similar outlook to our own. Festivals and event organisers.

Purpose of partnerships

Collaborations to bring our list to the attention of a wider international audience as well as introducing the best international titles to a UK audience.
