Welcoming organisations from around the world

Join the global brain for literature

The International Literature Showcase presents the best of contemporary British literature, and brings together an online community of literature professionals from around the world to share best practice, form partnerships and create new projects.

A global network of literature experts is at the heart of International Literature Showcase. The network creates opportunities for further international collaboration, and provides a platform for sharing ways of working.

Members of the network will have the opportunity to apply to attend a four day summit, the Norwich ILS, in June 2017.

Who is this for?

All literature professionals are invited to join the online discussions. The Norwich ILS in June is aimed at literature professionals who are committed to working internationally.

ILS success stories

FLUPP Festival

In Rio, the FLUPP Festival reached an audience of over 2.4 million via BBC, CBN, O Globo and live events. The festival had 10,000 visitors, 51 authors (17 international) and 49 events. The subvention fund enabled Naomi Alderman, Yvvette Edwards, and Kei Miller to be part of it.

‘FLUPP is now part of an international network of people and institutions and an international literary event that can promote British literature in Brazil thanks to the British Council in Brazil, the British Council and the Writers' Centre Norwich.’ Toni Marques, FLUPP, Brazil

Storymoja

Storymoja in Kenya partnered with Ministry of Stories on a weekly project over two months to network school children in London with schools in the Mukuru Slums. The project enabled the development of a workshop model for Storymoja, opened the eyes of young people in both countries, and enabled Storymoja to develop a partnership event with Storymoja Hay.

‘The Showcase has been a highlight for a number of things that Storymoja is doing and our collaboration has improved, and we look forward to such opportunities for our partners to enrich our arts work in the country.’
Aleya Jamal, Storymoja, Kenya

Femrite 2012

Performance poet Francesca Beard visited Kampala for the Femrite 2012 week.

‘The Femrite mission statement is 'To build a platform for Ugandan creative women writers to contribute to national development through creative writing in Uganda' and it seemed to me, despite many infrastructural and social difficulties, that they are doing a brilliant job doing exactly that.’
