About
While working as a technical author for a software company, Frances Hardinge started writing her first children's novel, Fly by Night. With difficulty, a good friend persuaded her to submit the manuscript to Macmillan. Fly by Night went on to win the Branford Boase Award.
Frances' seven published titles are all aimed at children and young adults. Cuckoo Song won the Robert Holdstock Award at the British Fantasy Awards. Her most recent book, The Lie Tree, has won the Costa Book of the Year Award, the fiction category of the Boston Globe Horn Book Award and the UKLA 12-16 category.
