Christie won the Costa First Novel Award for Tiny Sunbird, Far Away, and has subsequently gone on to publish Where Women Are Kings, also to critical acclaim.

She is on the editorial board of Index on Censorship, and works with Amnesty International and the Department for International Development raising awareness of gender based violence.

Her work has been published and translated in numerous countries and she is represented by Cassava Republic in Nigeria.

Christie teaches creative writing with a number of organisations including the charity, First Story, and she is currently Programme Director for Creative Writing at St Mary's University, London.

She lives in London.
