Sixteen of our featured writers have been selected to create new work as part of the ILS in the second round of a series of writing commissions. The work, which spans poetry, fiction, non-fiction and graphic forms, circles the theme Crossing Borders. A deliberately broad proposition, the writers have been asked to formulate a response to a political or social reality, for instance; or conceptually, about boundaries and interstices; formally, about the parameters of the writers’ own practice; or on notions of transgression more generally.
In the wider context of the ILS, we are interested specifically in writing which tackles contemporary currents and articulates a distinctive artistic voice.
