About

Helen read French and Comparative Literature at UEA. She has a strong track record in writers’ and artists’ residency programmes and in educational outreach.  Her early professional life was in publishing PR at Penguin Books and at Fabers. She went on to leadership positions with the Arvon Foundation and with the unique educational charity, Farms for City Children. Helen then ran her own consultancy offering charities support with developing, funding and growing their organisations.  She joined Literature Works in March of this year, taking up the challenge of championing literature, readers and writers in South West England and beyond.

Summary of work

Literature Works is concerned with developing opportunities for writers and for readers in the South West of the UK.  We work closely in partnership with a wide-range of other literature and arts organisations, including publishers and libraries.  We promote writers, in part, through our South West Writers Directory and we aim to address the size and poor infrastructure of our region by providing a central resource of information, news and opportunities.

Summary of work to develop

We are looking at partnerships that will enhance our existing work and at ideas that enhance our aims.  We are interested in reaching out beyond the region we serve, making links that will strengthen our support of writers and readers in the South West.
