About

I am a literary programmer and producer with a background in publishing and in multi-arts festivals. I'm from Tauranga, in New Zealand and have lived throughout the country and overseas (Europe) travelling and working. I studied English Literature and Art History at University and completed a Diploma in Publishing. Festivals, reading, and exploring the world are my passions.

Work

Arts festivals took me all over New Zealand in various production, marketing and programming roles. Wellington is now my home and is where I started, with Andrew Laking, Lit Crawl Wellington in 2014. Since then we have produced three annual Lit Crawls and are currently working on the fourth. The fresh approach to format and content has appealed to New Zealanders meaning we've had to expand every year to cope with the numbers who turn out - a fun problem. to have. I've worked on the New Zealand Festival's Writers Week and am currently a programmer for Auckland Writers Festival. Through my work I aim to bring the work of emerging writers into greater prominence as well as address the concerns of our times. I am always trying to explore new ways of thinking through a programme.

Work to develop

I'm excited to make connections with international programmers, organisations and writers so as to strengthen the depth and dynamism of Lit Crawl in Wellington and for other events that we producer (Pirate & Queen is the name of mine and Andrew Laking's production company). Our goal is to bring together international writers with New Zealand writers in a totally unique festival where writers get the opportunity to network and workshop with each other, as well as present their work to audiences. I'm interested in guest curator models and curatorial exchanges and would love to set that up between New Zealand and other organisations around the world.
