About
Literature Across Frontiers (LAF) is a European Platform for Literary Exchange, Translation and Policy Debate.
LAF aims to develop intercultural dialogue through literature and translation and highlight lesser-translated literatures.
We are based in Wales, United Kingdom, and work in partnership with organisations and individuals across Europe and beyond on a range of activities that create opportunities for new literary connections and act as a catalyst for collaborations and projects.
We run a series of activities and projects that create opportunities for new connections and act as a catalyst for innovative literary collaborations.
We monitor, research, challenge and debate policy in the field of literature and translation across Europe.
We organise conferences, meetings and workshops offering opportunities for networking, consultation, professional development and training to the sectors engaged in the international dissemination of literature.
We cooperate with international book fairs, literary venues and festivals on programmes for professionals and for the general public, and on the development of audiences for translated literature.
We publish translated literature in print and digitally, in cooperation with established publishers. Our flagship publication is the trilingual Transcript Review – Europe’s online review of international writing.
Literary Europe Live
In 2015 LAF launched the Literary Europe Live (LEuL) project supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. LEuL brings together sixteen festivals and venues to foster and encourage programming that reflects the richness and diversity of the European literary landscape. LEuL also highlights outstanding emerging literary talent and develops live and digital audiences for writing in translation.
