About

I'm Programme Manager for The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival and 2017 will mark my 5th year with the Festival. Originally from the North East, I studied Literature at Durham and St Andrews Universities and have also spent time working in theatre and arts journalism during my career. Now Bristol-based and work between Cheltenham, Bristol and London. I also run a blog on the side dedicated to women's travel writing and travel as much as I can around work commitments.

Summary of work

Programme Manager at The Times and The Sunday Times Cheltenham Literature Festival - a Festival of 450 events (inc. adult, schools, family and fringe events) that takes place every October in central Cheltenham. I also run our Lit Crawl - a night of free, pop-up literary content in all corners of the town during the main Festival - and head up our digital strategy and international partnerships.

Summary of work to develop

We’re committed to developing our Live Literature offer and intend to build on the success of our inaugural Lit Crawl. Book festivals are brilliant vehicles for the exchange and presentation of ideas and I’m especially excited when formats beyond the standard in-conversation, panel or lecture take off and create a new event experience, reach new audiences and trigger new possibilities for presenting the written and spoken word.  Achieving a greater presence on the international stage is also key. We’d love to be able to welcome more overseas writers, collaborate on further international projects and develop our digital strategy to allow our content to reach further.
