Ieva Balode, born in 1976 in Latvia. Graduated University of Latvia, Faculty of History and Philosophy and Central European University in Hungary, Political Science Department. Since 2006 working at the International Writers’ and Translators’ House as a Project manager.

Summary of Work

Main duties at the International Writers’ and Translators’ House are: coordinate writers-in-residence program; plan and implement publicity of the residency program; initiate and manage international projects, liaison with state institutions, regional municipalities and international partners.

Work to develop

There is much to do to develop our writers-in-residency program. We have developed Translators program to promote the Latvian language - meaning we offer Latvian language courses and two months residency. To elaborate our offer to writers and translators and to promote literature of Latvia we want to learn more about international literary seminars, creative writing courses, translation workshops, international festivals etc.
